What we have here is a “StartupScreen” (1152x870 pixels, 256 colours) of that green guy that appears on all the covers of the 5 books of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy by Douglas Adams. This picture of our friendly green guy has a nice rippled glass effect, sits on a brown background, and is compleat with the reassuring phrase "Don't Panic" in the upper left corner. As an added bonus, there is room enough for a whole line of startup icons so they will not draw over any important parts of this picture! (Comes compleat with a nifty colour icon!)
I wholeheartedly urge you to install this wonderful StartupScreen on your machine and to rush out and buy all of Douglas Adams’ books and to write him into your will, and while you're doing that, put something in for me too. There is absolutely no fee for using this picture (being a derivative of work protected by an army of lawyers) but, if you feel an inexplicable need to do something really nice, a college student (me) could use any cash you can dig up. 8´d
